Ponies for Sale

** Update - late Feb. 2008 ** - Updated "For Sale" page!
Hi All! I know everyone is about ready for spring! We're having our usual crazy Virginia weather with some days like winter (freezing with ice storms) and the next day in the 70's! It does wear on one after a while. The ponies are starting to shed & daylight savings is starting early this year - March 9th - and I'm waiting for that to be able to ride after I get home from work! Roddy & I are going to be in training for the event, September 5 - 7, at Kentucky Horse Park with the Highland Pony Enthusiasts Club of America & the Equus Survival Trust. We've just been legging up the last few weeks & Roddy is ready for breeding season!! Too bad he's not going to be doing any of that this year - poor fellow :-)

The event at KHP is gearing up to be quite an extravaganza with many special surprises! Start checking the HPECA website in March for details as they come available. There will be a Mountain & Moorland judge for the British Native Ponies. Lendon Gray is going to judge all the Dressage and Muffy Seaton is to judge the driving. Each performance class will have two scores - one for breed standard and one for performance. Placing's will be determined for each breed in mixed classes, then placing's for the class based on the best of the breed placing's. This is the way it's usually done in the UK as well with two judges for performance classes. It makes it a bit tougher sometimes as the animals have to first represent their breed standard, THEN also out perform the others. Makes things a bit more challenging...
Cheers All!

HPECA WEB SITE UPDATE - Dec 2008 @ www.hpeca.org
Thank you to all the HPECA members that make it possible to have a network of people
devoted to Highlands in America. Our numbers are small, but our ponies are mighty!

Kellwould is no longer actively breeding Highland Ponies. We are devoting our energies to ownership & as Highland Pony Enthusiasts! We'll be heavily involved in the HPECA, getting a pony or two out showing, and having some fun trail riding.
Highland Pony Update November 2007:
There are currently approximately only 60 to 70 Highland Ponies in America & very few available for sale. Most of the mature, broke Highlands (that I know of) are in permanent homes at the moment. Your best bet to own a Highland Pony is to get involved with a breeder/ owner in your section of the country &/or consider raising a youngster.
There is a yearling colt for sale in Montana. See our "For Sale" page for details & contact info.
More ponies (including a few mature ponies) are listed on the HPECA Website - click on the Ad/ Links page.

To learn more about Highlands and network with other owners and enthusiasts, contact or join the
Highland Pony Enthusiast Club of America (HPECA). Email our Secretary, Sandy Mairs.
